NGS Laboratory Planning Supervisor

Position Summary

● Will create daily laboratory plans and staff assignments for NGS sequencing lab
● Proficient in all assigned laboratory procedures required for sequencing and qPCR tests
● With regular guidance from the Laboratory Manager, provides daily oversight of
laboratory testing personnel and assigned laboratory areas

Responsibilities List

● Create plans for extraction, library preparation, pooling, and sequencing
● Perform and maintain proficiency in all assigned laboratory procedures to include
extractions, nucleic acid quantification, normalization, pooling and sequencing
● Perform, assign and oversee the completion and documentation of laboratory
maintenance tasks
● Write and provide oversight for the writing of incident reports
● Assist with the scheduling of technicians and tasking
● Provide guidance for laboratory operational issues including timely escalation and
follow-up
● Perform or oversee the performance of training and competencies
● Identify areas for improvement and assists with the implementation of new and improved
processes
● Assist with the development and maintenance of department Standard Operating
Procedures
● Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of documentation
required for quality and laboratory accreditation
● Assure laboratory inventory within assigned areas is maintained at appropriate levels
● Assure laboratory reagents and cleaning solutions within assigned areas are not expired
and sufficient for tasking
● Provide feedback and assist with the drafting of staff reviews
● Assist with process troubleshooting
● Assist with the drafting of verification/validation plans and summaries
● Other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor’s degree in science or related discipline

Experience

Minimum of one year of laboratory experience in a high complexity Next-Gen Sequencing
laboratory, supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

● Experience working within a BSL 2 laboratory
● Experience within a regulated laboratory environment (e.g. CLIA, GLP, GMP, etc.)
● Knowledge of standard laboratory procedures and safety processes
● Excellent organizational skills
● Experience within a molecular or sequencing laboratory preferred
● Experience with staff oversight preferred

Physical Requirements

● Ability to work within a BSL 2 laboratory
● Physical stamina
● Ability to carry up to 20 pounds

Position Type: Full-Time
