Entry-Level Research Associate (Maryland)

This exciting role will be focused on molecular chemistry research and development of microbiome and clinical metagenomic tests taking place in CosmosID’s lab in Germantown, MD. Prior experience with NGS library preparation is preferred but not
required. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of curiosity and ambition to make the infectious disease diagnostic tools of tomorrow. This is an excellent opportunity for growth in a growing company in the bourgeoning field of clinical metagenomics.

The candidate will work closely with a team of diverse backgrounds and skills including members of the Research and Development team as well as regular interaction with the Chief Medical Officer for guidance on experimental design and execution of protocol development. The candidate will also work closely with computational biologists and clinical teams to inform protocol development.

Prior experience with laboratory automation is not required but desirable. The candidate must have experience with molecular biological methods. Experience with various sequencing platforms in the Illumina line as well as Nanopore are desirable but not
required.

Requirements
Education: achieved at least BS/BA or equivalent
Certifications: None required
Prior Experience: at least a year of lab experience, experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory is favored.
Physical Ability: ability to regularly lift 25lbs
Other: Excellent communication across local and remote teams required
Personality Traits: curiosity and careful attention to detail are required
