Associate Laboratory Supervisor

Proficient in all assigned laboratory procedures required for sequencing and qPCR tests. With regular guidance from the Laboratory Manager, provides daily oversite of laboratory testing personnel and assigned laboratory areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and maintain proficiency in all assigned laboratory procedures to include extractions, nucleic acid quantification, normalization, pooling and sequencing
  • Perform, assign and oversee the completion and documentation of laboratory maintenance tasks
  • Write and provide oversite for the writing of incident reports
  • Assist with the scheduling of technicians and tasking
  • Provide guidance for laboratory operational issues including timely escalation and follow-up
  • Perform or oversee the performance of training and competencies
  • Identifies areas for improvement and assists with the implementation of new and improved processes
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of department Standard Operating Procedures
  • Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of documentation required for quality and laboratory accreditation
  • Assure laboratory inventory within assigned areas is maintained at appropriate levels
  • Assure laboratory reagents and cleaning solutions within assigned areas are not expired and sufficient for tasking
  • Provide feedback and assist with the drafting of staff reviews
  • Assist with process troubleshooting
  • Assist with the drafting of verification/validation plans and. Summaries
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or related discipline

Experience

  • Minimum one year of laboratory experience in a high complexity laboratory, supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience working within a BSL 2 laboratory
  • Experience within a regulated laboratory environment (e.g. CLIA, GLP, GMP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory procedures and safety processes
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience within a molecular or sequencing laboratory preferred
  • Experience with staff oversight preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work within a BSL 2 laboratory
  • Physical stamina as you will often spend hours on your feet performing various tests
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds

Position Type: Full-Time
