CosmosID is committed to making the world a healthier and safer place by delivering accurate, timely, and cost effective solutions using systematic microbial identification. We provide proven high-resolution bioinformatics to facilitate personalized treatment in health care and monitoring of environmental bio threat agents. In doing so, we ensure prompt, accurate responses, appropriate medical therapies, and corrective actions to prevent public health risks.


CosmosID was founded in 2008 by molecular microbiologist, Dr. Rita Colwell, Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland at College Park and at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Colwell was the 11th Director of the National Science Foundation from 1998 to 2004 and the recipient of the 2006 National Medal of Science of the United States and the 2010 Stockholm Water Prize. Dr. Colwell is a member of the National Academy of Science and has authored or co-authored 17 books and more than 750 scientific publications. Through her scientific leadership, CosmosID is focused on providing innovative solutions for the increasing need of rapid microbial identification and pathogen diagnosis.
